Carol W. Garvey

The Carol Wilson Garvey Award for Exceptional Nonprofit Board Leadership is given to a board member of a Montgomery County nonprofit organization whose work improves the health and well being of vulnerable County residents. The award winner will receive a cash award of $200 for a designated nonprofit organization.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrates active engagement as a Board member
  • Demonstrates accomplishments and a positive impact on the organization and the community
  • Contributes innovative ideas and talents to the board
  • Shows an ability to lead and reach out to the community at large

The Mary C. Jackson “Good Works, Done Well” Award is given to an individual whose efforts have improved the lives of low-income, uninsured Montgomery County residents by increasing access to quality health care and/or family services. The Mary C. Jackson Award is given annually to individuals within Montgomery County who have worked or volunteered for the benefit of the most vulnerable people in our community. Through the Mary C. Jackson Endowment Fund, award recipients receive a cash award of $200 and an engraved gift commemorative of this honor.

Selection Criteria:

  • Has made a substantial positive direct or indirect impact on the health of the under-served population of Montgomery County
  • Demonstrates consistent commitment to serving the community through professional and/or volunteer activities
  • Displays compassion and care for the people they serve
  • Engages with the community with energy and enthusiasm
  • Shows good team-work skills
